The Farmers 5000 is likely one of the very first school-based 5K fundraisers in the state of Colorado. Since 1981, serious racers and weekend warriors alike have been coming to Wheat Ridge High School to run the Farmers 5000!  Starting and finishing in front of the school, this race winds through the surrounding neighborhoods making it a true community event. The Farmers 5000 continues to raise money to support school programs while promoting physical fitness and community spirit. All funds from entry fees are given to various educational and special programs within the school. The 5K run and walk, along with a fun run, are open to all! 

Prices below do not include $2.50 RunSignup fees.

Adult: $25 until March 31. $30 from April 1 to Sept. 20

Alumni: $23 until March 31. $28 from April 1 to Sept. 20

High School Student/Jeffco staff: $20 until March 31. $25 from April 1 to Sept. 20 

Middle School Student: $15 until March 31. $20 from April 1 to Sept. 20 

Betty's Runners (runners age 70 and older): $25 until March 31. $30 from April 1 to Sept. 20

Virtual run: $25 until March 31. $30 from April 1 to Sept. 20

Elementary school runners (K-5) $10.00 - includes youth large race shirt 

T shirts:

Until March 31 a long sleeve race shirt is included with all registrations. After that, race shirts will be included with Student, Staff and Betty's Runners registrations. All  Adult, Alumni and Virtual runners can purchase race shirts  for an additional $10 until July 31, and an additional $15 from Aug. 1 to race day.  

Runners who register by August 21 will be guaranteed their shirt size availability on race morning.

Online registration closes at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. Race day registration is available for an additional $10.

All mail-in registrations and online registrations may be picked up at Wheat Ridge High School on:

Friday, Sept. 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon
Race day, Sept. 21 from 7:30 a.m to 8:30 a.m.

Betty Willis was a long-time supporter and participant of the Farmers 5000. In fact, she ran her last Farmers 5000 at the age of 90 in 2018! To honor her enthusiasm for the sport of running and for our community all runners age 70 and older will have the race t shirt included in their registration. Hey Future Farmers! The two schools with the highest percentage of their student body participating in the Farmers 5000 will win a cash grant from the Wheat Ridge Optimist Club! And the third place team will win books for their students! Make sure to select your school from the drop-down menu during registration. This registration is only $10 (plus RunSignup fees of $2) and includes a youth large race shirt.

The race begins and ends on 32nd Ave. directly in front of Wheat Ridge High School. 

Participants should park in the lot on the north side of the school, off of Holland St. and south of 37th Ave.  NOTE: You will not be able to access the start line or parking lots from 32nd Ave. on race morning.

The certified course begins and ends at WRHS, winding through the neighborhood streets. The 2025 course has a new, faster finish. Stay tuned for the course reveal!

Top male runner and top  female runner will each receive $100 cash. First and second runners-up will receive gift certificates from BP RunCo . Overall winners are excluded from the age group awards below.

Top 3 Male/Female 5K runners in all categories will receive a gift certificate from Wheat Ridge businesses.
Age Categories: 8 & under; 9-12,13-15, 16-19, every 5 years thereafter, 80 and over.
